In 2012, Kalingas-North America Network received a grant from ACTA’s Living Cultures Grants Program to host the first youth Canao for children and young adults of Igorot-descent living in Southern California, with others from Las Vegas in attendance. The workshops included featuring bamboo instrumentation in playing traditional music and learning the art of back strap weaving. The Canao was hosted by Kalingas-North America Network and BIBAK San Diego Youth, and organized by Kirin Amiling Macapugay, Michael Wandag, and other Igorots from the LA area.
