Our Newsletter
The Mountaineer was a BIBAK San Diego newsletter created by and mailed out by the Newsletter Committee in the 1990s. It distributed information like sentiments shared through the Letters to the Editor section, which would be anything from opinions to resignations from positions, but mostly highlighted important announcements like upcoming events and life milestones, with some black and white photos.
Only some of the the 1993 and 1999 prints have been found, and they show Mr. John Culhi (1993) and Mr. Octavio Balangcod (1999) as the Editors in charge in their respective times.
Finding and digitally storing the newsletters is a current work-in-progress. A newsletter has not been issued consistently term-to-term since the organization's use of the Internet to share information- particularly Yahoo Groups, and eventually, Facebook. As of 2024, The Mountaineer is officially no longer being issued.
